What is a visitor log template?
A visitor log template (also called visitor log book or visitor sign-in sheet template) is a standardized tool used to track guests that enter and exit your premises, to know when they arrived and/or left and whom they visited.
With it, you can record information about people who visit a workplace, school, residential building, event, or other facility.
What details should be recorded in a visitor log book?
Usually, a visitor log book must record these informations about the visitor:
- Full name of the visitor
- The time they arrived
- The time they left
- Purpose of their visit
- Who they are visiting (an employee or a department)
- Contact information (phone number or email address)
- Signature
Some organizations record other information depending on their needs, like license plates, number of kilometers traveled to get there, or badge numbers.
Why do I need a visitor sign-in sheet?
Using a visitor log book is essential for any company to keep its premises secure and track its visitors. By recording entries and exits, you know who is present on site in case of a past incident or an emergency.
Public safety
In case of emergency, the log allows evacuation managers to know who is currently present on site, so everyone can be evacuated safely.Traceability
